From Creative Content to the SD Committee <\/h2>\n\n
Looking back five years ago, my journey at MFEC began as a Creative Content professional. My main responsibility was to conceptualize and create content that communicated MFEC\u2019s story to both internal and external audiences\u2014through social media and corporate activities. The key challenge of this role was always the same question: \n\u201cHow can we tell MFEC\u2019s story in a way that people truly understand and connect with?\u201d \n \nTechnology can often feel complex and distant to many people. Therefore, our team needed to create content that was not only informative but also easy to understand and clearly reflected MFEC\u2019s values. \n \nWorking in the technology industry means being in a fast-changing environment. What we learned yesterday may no longer apply today. Adaptability and continuous learning have therefore become part of MFEC\u2019s culture. As a member of the Corporate Communication and Branding team\u2014responsible for shaping and communicating the company\u2019s image\u2014I needed to constantly learn and adapt in order to truly understand what I was communicating to others. <\/p>\n\n
After gaining experience in Creative Content, I was given the opportunity to expand my role into Sustainability Report (SD Report) writing. My responsibility was to transform data collected from multiple departments into content that was clear and reader-friendly. This was a significant challenge, as the information came in large volumes and various formats, while also needing to comply with sustainability reporting standards. \n \nTo do this effectively, I had to thoroughly study the entire report structure to ensure accuracy and completeness. This marked my first real step into the field of sustainability. \n \nIn many ways, sustainability reporting is similar to Creative Content work\u2014it involves collecting information according to a defined structure, organizing it, and transforming it into meaningful content. The skills required are largely the same: <\/p>\n\n

However, one entirely new and challenging skill I developed was\u00a0<\/span>Coordination & Communication<\/span><\/b>. With limited experience in sustainability reporting, I needed to fully understand what data was\u00a0required, how it would be used, and in what context\u2014so that colleagues from other departments could prepare the right information. Most of the people I worked with were highly experienced professionals, which initially made me nervous.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> \n \nFortunately, MFEC is\u00a0a very open\u00a0organization. Everyone was willing to guide, support, and even listen to my suggestions. What I once feared would be a barrier became a source of confidence.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> \n \nOf course, challenges still existed\u2014especially doing tasks I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0particularly enjoy. But I live by this principle:<\/span> \n\u201cWork we love fuels our passion. Work we\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0enjoy tests our responsibility\u2014and responsibility is what\u00a0ultimately leads\u00a0us to success.\u201d<\/span><\/b> \nIronically, the work I liked the least eventually became my greatest achievement.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n
As I continued working on sustainability reports, I gained a deeper understanding of sustainability frameworks. With\u00a0strong support\u00a0from my manager and teammates, I was given the opportunity to join the\u00a0<\/span>Sustainability Development Committee (SD Committee)<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> \n \nThis initiative originated from MFEC\u2019s CEO,\u00a0<\/span>Mr. Siriwat\u00a0Wongjarukorn<\/span><\/b>, who recognized the importance of sustainable business and set a goal for MFEC to become a sustainability-listed company. Like many others, my first question was,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cWhat is a sustainability stock?\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u2014and\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0where my learning journey began again.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n
Understanding SET ESG Rating Through Real Challenges<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n
Formerly known as THSI, SET ESG Rating evaluates the sustainability performance of listed companies based on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria. It serves as a key reference for investors seeking sustainable investment opportunities. \n \n<\/p>\n\n
In 2023, MFEC began its first ESG assessment. We had only two months to prepare documentation covering 21 categories and 150 questions, totaling more than 935 rows in Excel. The entire team worked closely together, supported by consultants, right up until the final submission. The result: MFEC successfully achieved a SET ESG Rating of \u201cAA\u201d in its first year. <\/p>\n\n
Growth Through Dedication and Commitment<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n
Throughout this process, my curiosity drove me to continuously ask questions and learn beyond the assessment requirements. Gradually, everything began to connect\u2014like assembling a puzzle. I realized that sustainability was the path I\u00a0truly wanted\u00a0to pursue.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> \n \nAfter discussing my career aspirations with my manager,\u00a0<\/span>Ms. Narada\u00a0Manawatthakit<\/span><\/b>, Corporate Communication and Branding Manager, the timing aligned perfectly with the formal establishment of the\u00a0<\/span>SD Committee<\/span><\/b>. I was appointed as\u00a0<\/span>Secretary of the Sustainability Development Committee<\/span><\/b>, responsible for overseeing the company\u2019s sustainability initiatives.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> \n \nThis role required immense dedication, as I started from zero. Every step involved learning while\u00a0doing. With MFEC\u2019s continuous support, our efforts paid off\u2014in\u00a0<\/span>2024<\/span><\/b>,\u00a0MFEC achieved the\u00a0<\/span>highest SET ESG Rating: \u201cAAA\u201d<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n
A key factor behind this success was the adoption of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>MSustain<\/span><\/span>, a platform developed by\u00a0<\/span>MFEC<\/span>\u00a0to streamline sustainability data management. It significantly reduced complexity, minimized errors, and improved efficiency\u2014transforming manual Excel tracking into a powerful digital solution.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n
Moving Forward with FTSE Russell: A New Global Standard<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n
In early\u00a0<\/span>2024<\/span><\/b>, the Stock Exchange of Thailand announced the alignment of sustainability assessments with global standards, introducing\u00a0<\/span>FTSE Russell<\/span><\/b>, a globally recognized ESG rating agency. Once again, I found myself learning and adapting to a more rigorous evaluation framework.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> \n \nFTSE Russell evaluates companies in the\u00a0<\/span>SET100 Index<\/span><\/b>\u00a0and those with SET ESG Ratings. MFEC automatically qualified for this assessment, reinforcing the growing importance of global sustainability standards among listed companies.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> \n \nThis journey is far from over. Sustainability has become a highly sought-after career path, and I am grateful to MFEC for being an organization that values openness, encourages independent thinking, and continuously supports professional growth.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> \n \nI would like to leave you with this thought:<\/span> \n\u201cOpportunities come to those who are ready.\u00a0Don\u2019t\u00a0be afraid to try.\u00a0Don\u2019t\u00a0be afraid to learn.\u201d<\/span><\/b> \nWhen you commit to developing your true potential, opportunities will always follow.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n
